Paul Aucoin, Executive Director of the Port of South Louisiana, was the speaker at the November 29, 2016, Rotary Club of LaPlace.  Paul described the impact the Port has on the local, state, national, and world economies.  Port Commissioner Judy Songy accompanied Paul to the meeting.

Paul Aucoin described the Port of South Louisiana as the largest tonnage port in the Western Hemisphere.  It includes 54 Mississippi river miles in the three parishes of St Charles, St John, and St James.  It is the largest grain export port and the largest energy port in the US.  Approximately half of all US grain exports pass through the port.  The port also administers the largest Free Trade Zone in the US.
