Dolly Parton Imagination Library Check Presentation
President Lucien Gauff III presented a check in the amount of $1500.00 to Rotarian and St. John United Way Executive Director Artis Williams for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library at the Rotary Meeting on January 18, 2022. The Rotary District 6840 contributed a grant amount of $800.00 from the Rotary Foundation for the 2021 - 2022 year. The Rotary Club of LaPlace contributed an amount of $700.00 for the 2021 - 2022 year. The Rotary District 6840 Grant and the Rotary Club of LaPlace contributions provides funding to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in St. John The Baptist Parish. The funding supports 60 recipients of monthly books to pre-school children between the ages of birth to 5 years old. The intent is for parents to read the books to their children and develop the child's love of reading and parental bonding. The Rotary Club of LaPlace Rotarians solicit parents to sign their children up for the program by distributing the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Brochures in their place of business and by daily contacts. This basic education and literacy project beneficiaries are the pre-school children and their parents that establishes the early love of reading in the children.
